At the end of January, KANSAI HELIOS Slovenia traditionally organized a business meeting of the road markings segment, bringing together representatives of companies, institutes, and public authorities active in the fields of traffic and horizontal road markings.

This year’s meeting focused on sustainability, with particular emphasis on the importance and role of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in the development and application of road marking materials. Participants received answers to key questions on why sustainability is essential for road markings, what its main drivers are, and how it can be measured. Special attention was also given to product carbon footprints and life cycle assessments.

We also presented current topics within the segment as well as recent upgrades implemented at KANSAI HELIOS Slovenia in the field of road marking production, further strengthening the company’s competitiveness. The event was complemented by presentations of Hofmann and Graco equipment.

Through this meeting, we strengthened professional dialogue and cooperation with our partners and laid solid foundations for future joint activities. We look forward to upcoming meetings and continued collaboration.

We would like to invite you on a brief tour behind the scenes of our 500 m² production facility, newly equipped with modern infrastructure, including high-performance mixers and dispersers. In 2024, KANSAI HELIOS Slovenia installed an automated filling line supported by innovative robotic technology.

Smart Automation for Greater Efficiency

A key milestone in our modernization was the installation of an automated filling line with robotic labeling and palletizing. This investment has more than doubled our filling speed—from 2 containers per minute to 5 containers per minute, with potential for further optimization. Additionally, fewer operators are now required, reducing physical strain and allowing employees to focus on more skilled tasks.

The new robotic line enables us to maintain high productivity while ensuring stable and responsive production flows. This paves the way for even more speed, precision, and consistency—ensuring our customers receive the reliability they expect in a fast-paced market.

The standardization of packaging units has allowed us to reduce complexity in internal logistics, shorten lead times, and improve safety during handling. These improvements have led to a more predictable and responsive supply chain, especially important for urgent or large-scale orders.

Increased Capacity and Further Modernization Plans

With the modernization of the production line, we have increased our production capacity. Today, this capacity exceeds 10,000 tons, with seasonal monthly peaks reaching up to 1,300 tons. These figures reflect our current performance, and we are actively working to expand capacity further. One of our upcoming enhancements includes the automated feeding of additional resins, which will significantly boost our output.

The event, organised by the Association of Transport Engineers of Slovenia together with the National Committee PIARC Slovenia and Transport Community, is the most important professional gathering for transport engineering in the country.

The main theme of this year’s event was transport connectivity and traffic flows in the region, with a strong emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach. As part of a recent initiative, our coatings were used to create new road markings around several primary schools, helping to guide and protect children on their daily journeys.

In the small town of Gelnica in Slovakia, a group of young basketball enthusiasts has turned a modest idea into a community project, revitalizing their old asphalt playground into a vibrant and modern sports facility.

For years, the group played on a worn-out court, its cracked surface and faded lines a testament to numerous games. Recognizing the need for improvement, they approached the mayor of Gelnica with a proposal to renovate the space. Inspired by their initiative, the mayor approved funding and we were happy to support the project by offering our high-quality and durable road marking materials perfect for playgrounds and the application equipment needed.

Thanks to these efforts, the playground was transformed into a bright and inviting sports venue, paving the way for many new games and activities.
